Frequently Asked Questions

What is eCommission Payment Gateway? +
eCommission Payment Gateway is a commission disbursement service that lets brokerages pay agent commissions electronically. The broker authorizes the payment, and eCommission handles the banking details, the transfer and the tracking. The brokerage no longer needs to export payment files, log in to multiple banking portals or chase down agent bank account changes.
How is eCommission Payment Gateway different from exporting ACH files for agent commissions? +
With eCommission Payment Gateway, the brokerage authorizes the payment, and eCommission does the rest. The brokerage no longer needs to export files, log in to the bank and keep every agent's banking details up to date. Agents manage their banking accounts in a secure portal, and eCommission handles tracking and return follow-up. The result is reduced administrative work, less exposure to sensitive banking data and faster payment choices for agents.
How much does eCommission Payment Gateway cost for brokerages? +
eCommission Payment Gateway is offered at no cost to brokerages. Agents pay delivery fees, which are deducted from the payment. Standard two-day delivery costs $1 per transaction, and expedited same-day delivery costs $25 per transaction.
How fast do agents get paid with eCommission Payment Gateway? +
Agents receive their commission in two business days with standard delivery or on the same business day with expedited delivery as long as the brokerage authorizes the payment by the 4 p.m. CDT cutoff.

Standard two-day delivery is the default and costs $1 per transaction. Agents can select same-day delivery for a single payment or for every payment at $25 per transaction. eCommission delivers the funds to the agent's bank on the predetermined schedule, but each bank decides when the funds post to the account.
What is the cutoff time to authorize same-day and two-day commission payments? +
The cutoff to authorize a commission payment is 4 p.m. CDT on a business day. Payments authorized after 4 p.m. or on a weekend or holiday are treated as received on the next business day. Delivery timing starts when the brokerage authorizes the payment.
Is eCommission Payment Gateway secure? +
Brokerages never store agent bank information with eCommission Payment Gateway. Agents enter and manage their banking information electronically in the Payment Gateway portal, where the data is verified and encrypted. That means brokerages no longer collect, store or manually update sensitive bank data, including copies of checks. The brokerage stays in control of payment approvals without the responsibility of safeguarding that information.
Do brokers still control commission payment approvals with eCommission Payment Gateway? +
Brokers and administrators keep control of commission payments with eCommission Payment Gateway. They still set up disbursements, control the amounts and timing, and maintain accounting visibility. The difference is operational, not structural. When the brokerage is ready to pay an agent, one click hands the payment to eCommission to handle the transfer of funds, which makes the process cleaner, safer and easier to manage.
How does the broker set up eCommission Payment Gateway for my brokerage? +
Setting up the brokerage takes a few minutes to provide company, broker and bank signer information. Bank account details are verified instantly through Instant Bank Verification or entered manually.
How do agents set up eCommission Payment Gateway? +
Once the brokerage is set up and verified, a welcome email with a unique, secure link goes to each agent. Agents use the link to enter their personal information, bank account details and preferred payment delivery speed. After that, they’re ready to receive commission payouts.
Can agents track their commission payments in Payment Gateway? +
Agents can view all past payments and track every commission from submission to delivery in their secure eCommission account. Each payment has a transfer reference number, status and expected delivery date. Payments move from submitted to in process to completed. With status built into the platform, agents no longer have to ask about their payment timing.
What happens if a commission payment is returned? +
A dedicated eCommission support team monitors payments and handles returns directly with the agent. If a broker payment is returned, all pending agent payments stop, and the brokerage receives an email and phone call explaining what happened and how to resolve the problem. If an agent payment is returned, the agent receives an email explaining the problem and requesting the agent resubmit banking information in the platform. The agent has a five-day holding period to resolve the problem. After that, the funds are returned to the brokerage.
How do I get started with eCommission Payment Gateway? +
You can call 866-918-3250 or email paymentgateway@ecommission.com to get started or ask questions.
